“Laia is originally from a town near Barcelona. She spent the past nine years living in London and the last five massaging. She studied in 2011 in Barcelona, and again in London in 2017, she started working straight away and gained a lot of experience working in different clinics and companies.

Laia is fully qualified and insured by all the therapies mentioned on this site. She specializes in Sports Massage and Deep Tissue, but she loves all the therapies she performs.

On her time off she loves crafting, doing yoga, playing with her cat and studying new subjects related to health and wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can massage help me?

Those are some of the main benefits of getting a massage treatment; stretching muscle tissue, increasing muscle flexibility and range of movement, breaking down scar tissue (knots), reducing swelling, increasing blood and lymph flow, increasing oxygen supply and nutrients, eliminating waste and toxins, relieving pain, helping with stress and anxiety and many more.

How often should I have treatments?

I get this question a lot with clients, there's no specific answer as it depends a lot on each particular case, what is for sure is if you are regular with massages you will feel many more benefits than if having it occasionally. I leave you with a guideline on different treatments. For Sports massage and Deep tissue would be once a month for maintenance, if you have some injury then increase as need it. For a lymphatic drainage or cupping would be recommendable every three months as maintenance.

What is a knot?

A "knot" how we all understand is a muscle or muscle group that feels painful, restricted of movement and very hard to touch. Knots in anatomy are called adhesions, which are sticking of tissues that cause poor functioning of the area and discomfort. The adhesions are two strands of tissue that sticks different muscle fibers, creating scar tissue. The way to release scar tissue is applying firm pressure and breaking them down.

What to expect during the massage treatments?

You will be well covered, treated with respect and professionality. I do use oil for all treatments, client will wear underwear. I will tailor the massage to the client's need and may ask for feedback on pressure, temperature, etc. After treatment client will feel with improved mood and sleep, increased flexibility and joint movement, pain relief, could increase defecation and urination, might have muscular ache (just for a while), light bruising (if heavy pressure applied), sleepiness (toxin release), to list a few.

When should I avoid a massage?

You should avoid a massage if you have fever, you are under the effects of drugs (alcohol included), you have a contagious disease, infection, diarrhea or vomiting. I will avoid working in those areas (but I can still massage the rest of the body) if; you have a skin disease, varicose veins, lumps, bumps, you are in the first trimester of pregnancy, cuts, bruises, sunburn, undiagnosed pains, inflammation, recent scars/surgery, abdomen during and after periods. And you will need to bring medical consent in cases of; cancer, epilepsy, diabetes, osteoporosis, asthma, bronchitis, psychotic conditions, thrombosis, high or low blood pressure, heart conditions, Bell's Palsy, arthritis, inflamed nerves, prescribed medication, neurological conditions, postural deformities, cervical spondylitis, whiplash injuries and any condition treated by another medical practitioner.

How I know if my muscles are tensed/tired?

Tense muscles feel tight, tough, painful, you can't move them freely, feel loss of flexibility. Muscle tension usually comes due to an overdue activity. Overloading, overstretching or direct trauma. And the best way to help and fix them is with massage and stretches (yoga, swimming, personal trainer, etc.).
